A Soft Landing into December

As the year gently comes to a close and festive lights begin to shimmer around us, I keep returning to a quote that landed deeply in my heart this week:

“All streams flow to the sea because it is lower than they are. Humility gives it its power.” — Lao Tzu

December carries so much inside it — celebration, memory, chaos, joy, pressure, expectation, love — all tumbling together. Our hands feel full with festive shopping and year-end commitments. Our minds overflow with to-do lists and unfinished tasks. Our hearts are heavy with memories of the year behind us, while our dreams lean hopefully toward the one ahead.

It’s easy to fall into the belief that if we can just finish everything, catch up, or escape for a while, we’ll arrive at a fresh start.

But the truth is softer than that.

More honest.

More human.

We are human beings — colourful, imperfect, evolving, tender, fierce, flawed, and beautiful.

We Are Rare, Not Perfect!

A Yogic Reflection: Head Beneath Heart

Our pose of the month — Child’s Pose (Balasana) — is a tender reminder of humility and surrender.

Balasana is a forward fold of deep listening. A shape where the head bows beneath the heart. A posture that invites us to release every expectation and meet ourselves exactly as we are. With the forehead grounded, the arms softened, and the breath steady, there is nothing to achieve.

You cannot push. You cannot perform. You can only soften. You can only return to source.

Forward folds, in all their variations this month, whisper the same truth:

Humility isn’t weakness — it is wisdom.

Acceptance is the gateway to grace.

And grace arrives when we allow ourselves to be rare, not perfect.

So as you move through December, let your practice be a soft landing.

Bend forward. Bow down.

Let your head rest beneath your heart and feel the world soften around you.

This December, I Invite You To…

Lay your head down.

Bow in humbleness.

Accept everything that was.

Honour everything that is.

And gently open to what may come — without expectation, without pressure, just presence.

“I bow in humbleness and receive this season with softness, joy, and grace.”
